🥂 The Wines
Here are the wines in your tasting along with a pairing guide for all of them.
White
Bordeaux Blanc: a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from the Bordeaux region of France.
Vinho Verde: a blend of native grapes from northwest Portugal. Lots of acid, little alcohol and some fizzy fun!
Rosé
Languedoc Rosé: Trust us, we know everyone reaches for Provence when it comes to French rosé but these heavier rosés from Languedoc will always have our hearts. Grenache and Cinsault are the main grapes.
Red
Naoussa Xinomavro: An incredible and underrated red from the Naoussa region of Greece. Way easier to say than you think!
Petite Syrah: Don’t let the name fool you, this is a big boy from California that packs a powerful punch.
Sparkling
Franciacorta: While we’d love to drink Champagne every time, there are so many good sparkling whites from around the world, including this one from Italy!
Lambrusco: Sparkling red, served chilled from Italy? Yes, please! This isn’t your parents’ Cold Duck.

Mandy Horton Walker, Co-Founder Love2Read
Mandy delivers teaching, tutoring, instructional coaching, professional development of specialized literacy instruction based on the Science of Reading and the Structured Literacy Approach to all learners, including those who have or are at-risk for specific learning disabilities, such as dyslexia. Mandy serves on the boards of The International Dyslexia Association-Florida, The Reading League-Florida, and the Dr. Larry Howell Book Club. Mandy is the President, CEO, Co-Founder of Love 2 Read, Inc. which is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing specialized instruction to students who struggle with reading and to supporting colleagues who serve them. Mandy is an active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Children’s Sunday School and Sacred Ground. Mandy’s efforts are focused on literacy, social justice, racial reconciliation, and building a cross-cultural, cross-racial beloved community. A 4th generation Floridian, Mandy also enjoys her family and friends. She and her husband enjoy Mandy’s very active grandchildren, visiting friends, and various hobbies and interests including gardening, floral arts, sewing, reading, writing, and walking.
Kaiya Kirk + Nancy Koziol, Wine Experts
Your presenters will be Kaiya (left) and Nancy (right). Sure, we could have put their headshots here but we think this screenshot from a virtual tasting tells you everything you need to know about them. While they’ve got some serious wine bona fides, between them, Kaiya and Nancy are fun, approachable, and don’t think wine should be taken as seriously as some people take it. The goal of couch + cork is to meet all guests where they are in their wine knowledge and increase their confidence – that’s way easier if everyone’s smiling.
